After my first divine experiences, I shared them with anyone who’d listen. Eyes glazed over and some of my friends and acquaintances were suddenly too busy to chat. Was I wrong to share my good news? No, but boring my listeners was.
One, not everyone is ready, or wants, to hear the minute
details of my faith.
Second, it is better to show rather than tell. “Preach the
Gospel always, and if necessary, use words.” St. Francis.
Another example: “At the end of the day people won’t
remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.” (Attributed
to Maya Angelou, but actually written by Carl W. Buehner.)
Dear Lord, help me listen for your urging rather than my
own impulses, especially when sharing my faith experiences. After all, You may
intend for some things to stay private, just between us. Amen.
(Palm-to-forehead) this is the first time I've understood The St. Francis quote! I totally believe that you've had special divine experiences because of how visiting your blog makes me feel.:-)
